Mission – UNOPS mission is to expand the capacity of the United Nations system and its partners to implement peace building, humanitarian and development operations that matter for people in need.

Vision – UNOPS vision is to always satisfy partners with management services that meet world-class standards of quality, speed and cost-effectiveness.

Mandate – On 20 December 2010 the United Nations General Assembly highlighted UNOPS role as a central resource for the United Nations system in procurement and contracts management as well as in civil works and physical infrastructure development, including the related capacity development activities.

UNOPS provides support services to United Nations agencies, international financial institutions, governments and non-governmental organizations. It customizes its services to individual client needs, offering everything from one-time stand alone solutions to long-term project management. UNOPS core services include:

UNOPS has more than 30 years experience implementing large-scale, complex efforts throughout the world. UNOPS often works in post-disaster and peace building settings, developing countries and economies in transition. UNOPS also has considerable capacity and experience in other sectors including education, environment, gender, governance, health, humanitarian relief and recovery, justice and reconciliation, poverty mitigation, and security and disarmament.

UNOPS in Kosovo

UNOPS Pristina Project Centre has been active in Kosovo since 1999, helping partners achieve their development and peace building goals. Our office provides services including project management, administrative support, procurement and fund management in areas such as humanitarian relief and recovery, local economic development, education, governance, health, environment, justice, mine action and post conflict rebuilding of infrastructure, census  and livelihoods. UNOPS main clients in Kosovo are:

  • European Union Office in Kosovo
  • Government of Kosovo
  • Bilateral donors
  • The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFTM)
  • United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), and
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
