The UNKT "Human Rights and Gender” Theme Group has been established since 2005,with the purpose to strengthen the focus on human rights and disadvantaged groups such as women, minorities, IDPs, refugees, children and youth in the work of all UN Agencies. The Human Rights and Gender” Theme Group is co-chaired by UNICEF and OHCHR.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights
December 10, 2008 is the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Secretary-General, launched a year-long campaign in which all parts of the United Nations family take part in the lead up to the 60th birthday of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on Human Rights Day 2008.
The UNKT has joined the global 60th UDHR anniversary campaign, by
establishing the UDHR 60 task force to tailor information and advocacy
campaign, aiming to effectively place Human Rights in the public, government and civil society’s agendas to actively promote Human Rights in Kosovo.
The campaign is directed at fighting poverty by seeing it as a violation of human rights with special focus on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
