International Monetary Fund (IMF)
Mandate:
The IMF is an international organization of 185 member countries. It was established to promote international monetary cooperation, exchange rate stability, and orderly exchange arrangements; to foster economic growth and high levels of employment; and to provide temporary financial assistance to countries to ease balance of payments adjustment. Since the IMF was established its purposes have remained unchanged but its operationswhich involve surveillance, financial assistance, and technical assistancehave developed to meet the changing needs of its member countries in an evolving world economy.

- The IMF operations in Kosovo are governed by Executive Board decision of July 1999, which authorized the IMF to provide technical services in Kosovo.
- The IMF offers technical advice in order to ensure macroeconomic and fiscal stability in Kosovo.
- In concert with other members of the international community, IMF is working to develop the institutional capacity of the Kosovo Institutions.
- The IMF staff visits Kosovo periodically to monitor economic developments.
- The IMF provides crucial technical advice to Kosovo, either through technical assistance missions or training of government officials.
